The story of SHOES.
by Sandra
Well I can't tell this story without telling the story of my sponsor child Angel.
One day Fr. Katende sent me a picture of my sponsor child, Angel. She was with her sister and brother going to school. Beautiful pictures, perfect uniforms and bare feet. (like most children in Uganda) A few days later Fr. Katende told me Angel asked if she could have a pair of shoes. I replied, “well, won't her brother and sister be jealous if only she had shoes?” He let me know it would be nice if they could all have a pair but there’s only enough money for her. So I asked, “what would 3 pairs of shoes cost?” He answered, “3 pairs of nice shoes would be $30.” So, after we found $30 for the kids, the next picture Fr. Katende sent me was the three children going to school with big smiles and very nice new shoes!
- This is how the idea of SHOES for Uganda was born.
A shoe piggybank, which just happens to be this very cool lavender high-top sneaker, is placed in the gathering area of Our Lady of the Rosary for donations
The pictures displayed below are of Angel born 10/8/2016 now 7 years old, her older sister Esther born 1/29/2014 now 9 years old and brother Eria born 9/22/2018 is now 5 years old.
